This book takes me back to my childhood.  Licking the spoon while waiting for the cake to bake in the oven was my favourite part of baking.   

Can we lick the spoon now takes us on a family cooking adventure where the famous “can we lick the spoon?” question is repeated throughout.  What’s worse than waiting to lick the spoon?  Waiting for the cake to bake of course. 

This book showcases the joy of cooking together in the kitchen, being patient and taking turns.  The repetition of words, the rhythm and rhyme of the text encourage children to join in while reading.
